Default moon valve covers made in Japan?

An old timer gave me some covers that he said are old moon pcs, but im not so sure. He wanted some late model vette ones that I had so we just swapped and wether they are moon or not , they look the part so Im happy, but still curious. Would older moon covers have been cast in Japan? {I kinda doubt it} . Can anybody help w/ the puzzle?

There is a pt # next to the JAPAN but I cant make out the whole thing, it looks like a 4 then a bunch of 0's

I was kinda wondering if maybe they werent newer ones, but none of the ones in the current catalog look like these. All there finned ones just have the fins on top, not wrapping all the way around around like these. On a side note, they cleaned up great and look right at home on the A!

Those aren't Moon, they are Cal - Custom # 40-2000, and in the late 60's ( 67 -68 ) they started farming out some of the aluminum production to Japan.

Wow, My dad has been looking for those exact valve covers because they have no name on them... if any one knows of some let me know, they are too much money to buy from moon now!

Yup they're Cal Custom and very desireable by anyone building a nostalgia motor.
Whether made in Japan, here, or on Mars once they are installed who cares? You got a nice gift from the old timer!
