John, I appreciate what your son and others have done for our country, but damn man, I hate someone that begs for freebies. No one gave my father shit for 20 years of his service. Thank him and others for being able to speak english, instead of German or Korean. I ain't got shit for you. All I have to give our troops came out of my last pay check. You might want to ask Obongo for a hand-out. Seems he(we) can afford to bail out the big three, and the friggin' banks.Maybe he can help you also.

it would be easier to build those parts than to expect charity these days.

Best of luck.

Morning, WyldChyld!

Man, have you got a chip on your shoulder!
As far as your dad he has performed a great
service to this country and should not be
forgotten! But as far as no body giving him
anything for his years of service, well I was
a POW in Vietnam for 8 months and I have the
scars and lose of hearing in one ear to prove it
(I wasn't as lucky as John McCane to make a
fortune of it!)

And nobody gave me anything for my service
except a few medals, that with .50 cents mite
get me a cup of coffee! I don't look for or expect
any thing from anyone!

A set up this project and went to the internet
at the advice of a friend, If you don't want to
help me with parts or advice then that fine!
But don't make fun of what some people think
is a good cause! And thank God they don't
feel the same way you do! Let's keep politics
out of this, OK!

I don't hold a gun to anybody's head asking them
to donate or help, it like my post said "Not begging
just asking!"

I have asked to be removed from membership on this
forum because I see more and more porn being listed
on here and less Hot Rod stuff!

Ok i'm off my soap box now! Please don't respond as
I have deleted my project post from this site!

Good luck and God Bless,
Johnny, Tx-Gasser!

Hey TX gasser. Wyldchyld was just speaking his mind freely and politely. I dont think anything he said should offend you. After all it is a free country thanks to all those servicemen who fought and suffered as you did. Think about it man.

First off John McCain did not "make a fortune" from being a POW .... that is why he lost his presidential bid .... because he was under-funded. It was his PRINCIPALS that keep him from accepting donations and PAC money from all the wrong people ... unlike Obama.

It was these same PRINCIPALS that came out in his conduct as a POW and gained him the respect of most Americans ... even if they didnt vote for him, most people recognize his past performance and base their admiration of him on that.. Every thing he got he earned.

As far as "nobody gave me anything for my service
except a few medals" ... it should not be a matter of what "they" gave you .... it should be more a matter of what you got (learned) from the experience.

Welcome Home.

That Must have been rough. Times sure are a lot different today than back then.My father and an uncle both served tours in Nam. They got none of the "Hero worship" that prevails today.Good luck with the project.

TxGasser .... I just dont get it. This is a cool relaxed site yet you come here looking for "contributions" to a probably good cause and you claim to a an ex-POW from VietNam and yet the actual website that researches these claims has you (Johnny Garner) listed a an imposter. http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies1012.htm

They have researched your claim of "I was a POW for eight months" and found it to be false and they have requested your military records to ascertain if you were even a veteran, let alone served in Viet Nam, as claimed.

This claim of yours is inexcusable and tarnishes the service of all past and present soldiers who have given so much.

Not like anyone will believe him now
